The Bartlett Family
Welcome! I’m Josh Bartlett and I have been in or around the playground industry most of my life, starting at age 6 when my father started building backyard playgrounds. However, playgrounds were not originally the main focus for my family. My father got into the industry as a way to supplement my family’s income when our feed store wasn’t doing so hot. (It turns out that owning a feed store in the desert isn’t the most lucrative venture…) Around the time that I started college my father, Frank Bartlett, had an opportunity to represent a commercial playground manufacturer in the West Texas territory. He built a few playgrounds here and there for the local Home Owners Associations and a few churches around town but as I got older, I developed an enormous passion for the business.
Playgrounds Etc Today
In 2009 we decided to give our full attention to designing and building commercial playground equipment. I designed and sold playgrounds while my father managed the construction side of things and my mother, Kay, would prepare proposals and keep the books. We are still a small business but we’re extremely proud to grow the business each year. Over the past 10 years, we have grown from 3 employees to 15, have design consultants located across Texas, and have teams of installers to help us manage the construction process. Although our focus is on Texas, we have had the pleasure of building custom playgrounds across the U.S. like in downtown Chicago, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Arkansas. We love this industry and building one-of-a-kind commercial playground equipment that is both safe and fun for kids.
